UVGI ambulance disinfection units

Surface disinfection for unoccupied ambulances and other medical transports

Stretchers, railings, medical equipment control panels, flooring, walls and work surfaces are all likely to be directly contaminated during patient care, and can be difficult and time-consuming to clean thoroughly.

Ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) is a proven method for killing or deactivating bacteria, viruses, mould spores and other pathogenic micro-organisms, and has long been successfully used in the Americas. As the exclusive New England distributor, we present two units designed for the irradiation and disinfection of the interior of an ambulance, air ambulance or any other vehicle.

Permanent Installation - Model ADU

The unit is permanently mounted somewhere on the ceiling where its 180° coverage will irradiate the infected surfaces most effectively. After the vehicle has been used, normal cleaning to remove stains and deposits is carried out. After this, or whenever routine disinfection is required, the unit is switched on and the doors closed. The germicidal UV-C energy disinfects the vehicle. Once the lamp is switched off, the vehicle is immediately ready for use.

The unit is constructed of stainless steel and aluminium, and has a specular reflector for increased UV-C efficiency. A welded wire lamp guard helps to prevent accidental lamp breakage when the vehicle is in use.

3 to 6 log air and surface decontamination is achieved in 20-30 minutes, depending upon the degree of decontamination necessary, the type of organisms suspected, and the vehicle size and configuration.

From ambulances to EMS helicopters, this device can be permanently
installed into any vehicle. Stretchers, railings, medical equipment control
panels, fl ooring, walls and work surfaces are all likely to be directly
contaminated during patient transport and can be diffi cult to clean. The
Model ADU will disinfect any exposed surface while materials in glass or
plastic containers are shielded from the germicidal effects.

Portable Use- Model EDU

This small, portable area disinfector is designed for use in emergency
vehicles when permanent installation is not practical. It can be used in
ambulances, police cars, and correctional passenger vans and buses. The
unit is equipped with a user-specifi ed time delay and activation timer.
Both the timer and the delay can be set in second, minute and hour
increments.

Advantages

Our solution gives you several advantages over currently-used cleaning procedures and products:

  1. It provides a second line of defence against infection, taking over where conventional cleaning leaves off.
  2. The UV-C radiation does not cause development of bacterial resistance that happens with some liquid antiseptics.
  3. The UV-C energy is delivered to all 'lit' surfaces of the vehicle, including hard-to-clean touchable surfaces like control pads and stretcher rails. However, materials in glass or plastic containers are shielded from the germicidal effects.
  4. The UV disinfection helps to eliminate the risk of improperly cleaned / re-contaminated surfaces because of human error. It also has the benefit of deactivating any air-borne microorganisms.

We can also provide a maintenance service to ensure that our equipment is always working at peak efficiency.
